Graded Stakes - 12/8 - Los Alamitos - Grade 1's Futurity and Starlet
Race 5 Futurity
1.King of Speed
#4 KING OF SPEED was on a nice little run before the wheels came off in the Breeders' Cup event, and although this one's initial two dirt tries left a bit to be desired, the 390 Tommy tells us to give this one a shot on today's initial route on the sand. Barn has only gone green to brown but thrice in graded events -- and has won with two of them ( $16 & $7 ). Sleepy takes over for the retired Stevens. #1 IMPROBABLE was visually impressive when winning a listed stakes on the BC undercard, and is another who should be able to handle two turns. Bob Baffert's Baked Beans is 4 for 9 with those who won 1-2 fortnights ago going 2X on the dirt for the 1st time ( graded stock ). #6 MUCHO GUSTO ( second half of the uncoupled and undefeated BBBB entry owns a win over the strip and looms to be the pacesetter.
|Race 7 Starlet||
#6 CHASING YESTERDAY has won 3 of 4, and shotcaller also happens to own that same record when stretching out their locally based graded dirt runners for the 1st time ( off a win ). Sensible selection. #1 VIBRANCE has gotten better and better and better, and we like that all the outings have been goin long. Filly doesn't need to take her track with her, as this is her 5th different surface to go along with that many pilots. Admire her versatility. #2 MOTHER MOTHER ( 2nd part of the uncoupled entry w/our top selection ) will be in front for as long as she can.
